In 2011 a dendrochorological analysis was done of some the timbers in the building. Six were sampled for various places (crown post, SW crown post brace, collar purin, three wallpaltes, two posts and bressumer). One timber had the felling date was winter AD 1454/5 and indicates the primary phase of building. The chimney bressumer felled in winter of AD 1591/2 thus the chimney construction must have occurred at that time or soon thereafter. A timber from the north east end bay felled in AD 1489/90 and so suggests a period of rebuilding then. It is suggested that the timber comes from a local source. The building was a unusually rich four-bay medieval open-hall house, there was rebuilding perhaps due to subsidence. The service bay is missing and the parlour bay had been replaced. (2)
