The following text is from the original listed building designation:
LONDON ROAD 1. 1614 (East Side) Nos 40 & 42 TQ 5254/1/65 II 2. Early Cl9 elevation masking older framed structures Yellow brick. 2 storeys. Projecting moulded eaves and gutter. Ridge mansard tiled roof, half hipped to left with centre rendered stack. 2 flat-roofed leaded dormers. Shop fronts on ground floor; 3 widely spaced sash windows on 1st floor with flat arches over of yellow headers.
