Full Description
The following text is from the original listed building designation:
MILL LANE, GREATNESS 1. 1614. The Old Mill TQ 55 NW/3/104 II 2. This was originally an old lace mill started by a French Huguenot family called Nouaille who settled in this locality after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. In the C19 it became a flour mill and is now electrically driven and owned by a firm of timber merchants. The structure of the mill buildings today is mostly C19 with weatherboarded elevations, about 6 storeys, including lofts, eaves and gutter and tiled roof. The base of random stone with brick quoins and dressings is probably Cl8.
Listing NGR: TQ5352856817
Despite being destroyed in a fire in 1928, the mill was reconstructed and continued operating until 1935 (https://www.batandballstation.com/The_Mills_at_Greatness_22257.aspx)
