The following text is from the original listed building designation:
BUCKHURST LANE 1. 1614 (North Side)
Nos 1 to 5 (consec) (Taylor's Cottages) TQ 5354/1/192 II 2. Row of C18 cottages. No 1 2 storeys, 2 windows. Nos 2-5 each 2 storeys 1 window. Hipped tiled roofs at right angles to road. No 1 1st floor red brick with some blue headers. Other 1st floors tile hung. Ground floor Nos 1 and 2 galleted random rubble with red brick dressings; Nos 3 and 5 red brick with diaper of blue headers; No 4 rendered. Assorted casements, some C19 one-bar, some modern square paned. No 4 has ill-assorted modern casements, gabled porch and modem plank door. Others have old plank doors. Picturesque group in spite of alterations to No 4, which could be restored. Left return and rear elevation show 1st floor of red brick with blue headers, ground floor of rubble masonry with red brick dressings.
