Description from record TQ 66 NW 11 :
[TQ 61316666] Church [NAT] (1) The Church of All Saints, Hartley consists of nave, chancel and porch, and W. bell-turret with shingled spire. The nave windows, high up, and the south door are Norman, the doorway and chancel arch 13thc. There is a 13thc. low-side window with shutter on the south; another in the north wall and a third to the west of the chancel arch. (2) In use for public worship. Mainly 13thc. with some Norman details as noted by Authy. 2. The south door is a particularly fine specimen with original ironwork and much original woodwork. (3) Checked and correct. (4) 1. 5280 HARTLEY CHURCH ROAD Church of All Saints TQ 66 NW 4/161 1.6.67 I 2. C12 nave and C14 chancel. The north vestry and south porch were added and the bell-turret at the west end rebuilt in the C19. Built of flint with stone dressings. Tiled roof. Weatherboarded turret with broached shingled spire. Hingework of south door is probably C12 as are the 2 Norman windows in the nave. C13 chancel arch. Nave has crown post roof. Purbeck marble font of C13 and C15. Chancel has marble monument to James Burrow (died 1729). Piscina. Jacobean pulpit. The churchyard contains some good C18 headstones with cherubs and some C19 oval bodystones. (5) 13th century chancel with a plain 13th century chancel arch. In addition, that "the only memorable thing about the church is the fringe-work of the south door", probably of 12th century date. (6) (9)
