Full Description
[TQ 846696.] Roman pottery. Bayford Point. "Imitation of Form 38", various rims, bases, etc., found in sheltered bay just off sea wall" by K. D. Hore & R. I. Little. (1) There is no concentration of material at this point only a few sherds. The site is probably an extension of TQ 86 NW 27. (2) Five pottery sherds from the Ham Green site were analysed as part of a scientific investigation, of 'Upchurch Ware', c.1982. The pottery was found to have more in common with sherds from the Cliffe and Cooling potteries than with other Upchurch sherds. It may be that Ham Green is not a kiln site, and its pottery was derived from north of the river (3).
