I have found the following Roman coins at BAYFORD ORCHARD in the Upchurch Marshes: Constantius II, aes. 4. Issue of c. A.D. 348. Crispus, small bronze. (1) These coins were not found by Gray but purchased by him c 1948 from casual labourers on the understanding that they had come from Bayford Orchard (centred at TQ 84506958), but no details of date of find or circumstances were noted. They remain in Gray's possession (2). Additional references (3).
