Summary

Roman pottery kilns were observed in 1900 in areas of tidal erosion, east of Nor Marsh. There was evidence of pottery manufacture and abundant local Upchurch Ware/grey burnished ware. The precise loaction of this observation is uncertain and the site is now destroyed.

Full Description

[TQ 80 69] sited to Nor Marsh only] Roman pottery kilns (unlocated sites within TQ 80 69 or 81 69), observed in late 19th century in areas of tidal erosion. Evidence of pottery manufacture and abundant `Upchurch Ware' (probably grey burnished ware) observed. Sites now destroyed (1).
