The following text is from the original listed building designation:
HEVER HEVER 1. 5280 How Green Road (off) Whistler's Farmhouse TQ 44 NE 49/543 II 2. Probably a C15 hall house with service end demolished in late C16 and cross-wing built, and chimney inserted at same time. Purlin and windbrace roofs with some re-used, smoke-blackened timbers. Front shows gabled cross-wing at left, of 2 storeys and attic, 1 window; and 2-storey, 5-window older right part. Compound ridge stack. Tiled roof, that of cross-wing very high pitched. Tile hung 1st floor, brick ground floor. Modern casements. C17 and modern rear additions. Inside much exposed timber and altered inglenook. 2 Jacobean fireplaces in cross-wing.

Timber framed house of 1450-90 of which the formerly open 2-bay hall and upper end of the medieval house survive. There is some evidence for the existence of the lower end but this is now demolished. There are 18th century alterations. (2)
