Full Description

The following text is from the original listed building designation:
KNOCKHOLT CUDHAM LANE SOUTH 1, 5280 (East side ) Oast house and former drying shed to North of Portlands, and attached walls to south and east of oast. TQ 45 NE 41/615 II GV 2. Early-mid Cl9 single oast house with attached drying shed now used as stable. Flint rubble with brick lacing bands and alternating block quoins and flat pilasters. Loading door under gable at right, flat dormer at left. Ground floor windows semi-circles with radial bars under gauged brick arches. Cowl missing from oast and double doors inserted on ground floor. Curved flight of steps up side of oast, linking with wall of brick and flint along road front. Similar wall running from south-east angle of former drying shed, east and north to enclose yard.
Portlands, the Oast house and drying shed with attached walls, the stable buildings, and Portlands Cottage form a group.
