The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1. 5280 SHOREHAM SHOREHAM Mill Lane (South Side)
Nos 1 & 2 (Mill Lane Cottages) TQ 5162 29/1206 24.9.74.

2. Late mediaeval hall house with alterations. 1 storey and attic, 4 windows, irregular. 2 storeys and attic at left end which uses down slope of hill. Tiled roof, hipped at left, has dormers built on wall plate. Exposed framing with plastered filling. Various C19 and modern casements. At some period, probably late C16 or early C17, chimney was added and house widened. Inside No 1 much exposed timber including remains of screens passage with 3-centred arch opening to service end (No 2). Large inglenook with oven, and traces of jettied east end.
Nos 1 to 5 (consec) Mill Lane Cottages form a agroup.
