Summary

Grade II listed building. Main construction periods 1450 to 1799A late medieval, timber-framed house, consisting of a two-bay timber framed hall, with a crown-post roof, and a crosswing. The house was probably built circa 1450. A stack was inserted in the hall circa 1550. Circa 1800 the house was divided into five cottages and the building was altered circa 1870-1900. The building is clad in brick, flint, rubble and tile hanging, with a tile roof

Nos 1 to 5 (consec) (Chapel Alley Cottages) TQ 5261 31/1177 5.2.73.

2. C16 or earlier timber framed range of buildings with C18 facade and additions. 1753 on datestone. Elevation of red brick with blue headers, partly flint rubble with red brick dressings and quoins to left. Tile hung on 1st floor to left with moulded eaves and gutter. Hip ridge tiled roof with returned hipped ent to left. Various C18 and C19 sash windows and casements panelled doors. Some moulded beams visible.
