In 2013 the building was assessed. The building is a four-bay timber-framed structure, probably of late 17th to early 18th century date, with an outshot under a catslide roof, which probably extended the length of the rear elevation of the building at the time of construction. The walls are of coursed rubble, with the side walls of brick. It was probably originally an agricultural building, perhaps a granary over a cart lodge, or a malting. When the building was converted to domestic use the braces on the first floor were cut away to create space. Chimneystacks were added in the early 19th century. Part of the rear outshot was removed and a two storey brick structure added, containing staircases. The windows were all added at this point. This work is thought to have occurred around AD 1820.
