Full Description
[TQ 851 633] A lead ampulla or pilgrim flask (see Illustration Card) was found by Mr L. Clayton in June 1984. It measures 2.1 inches by 1.2 inches and is almost complete, though buckled, with one handle missing. The front has a crown relief on a diapered background, the reverse a small incised cross within two concentric circles. It is likely to have come from a shrine associated with a royal saint, possible Walsingham. (1)
