The following text is from the original listed building designation:

2. Main part a substantial house of early C17 appearance but parts may well be older. Restored in C18 (date plaque 1778) when ground floor was sheathed in galletted coursed stone. 3 storeys, 4 windows, irregular. Tiled roof hipped at right. 1st floor C19 tile hanging. Leaded casement windows. Much wide-chamfered heavy timber inside. One original and several restored stone, Tudor-arched fireplaces. 2 panelled rooms one with much old linenfold, possibly imported.
Absalom's Farmhouse, the Granary and former cowshed, the formal garden walls, the stable range and cobbled yard and the oast range form a group.
