The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1. KNOCKHOLT CUDHAM LANE SOUTH 5280 (East Side) Portlands TQ 45 NE 41/614 22.10.71. II GV 2. About 1840. Entrance front of 2 storeys, 3 windows. stucco. Fairly low pitched, hipped, slate roof, with eaves soffit, broken forward above projecting centre bay which overhangs porch with square Ionic columns. Ionic pilasters at angles. Moulded lst floor band. Moulded architraves to 1st floor sash windows with margin lights, and ground floor long casements with margin lights under console bracketed cornices. Similar side elevation but with canted bays. At back an C18 wing of 2 storeys, 2 windows in brick and flint. Back faces road.
Portlands, the Oast house and drying shed with attached walls, the stable buildings, and Portlands Cottage form a group.
