The following text is from the original listed building designation:
HARTLEY ASH ROAD 1. 5280 Fairby Grange
TQ 66 NW 4/154 Convalescent Home II 2. C17. The name is derived from Feerby or Ferby, local landowners in the C15 and C16. It was in the possession of the Young family throughout the C17 and C18. L-shaped timber-framed building now faced in roughcast. Two storeys. Old tiled roof hipped at one end. Two hipped dormers. The front elevation has 3 altered. casements and an entrance under a modern gabled porch.
