The following text is from the original listed building designation:
FARNINGHAM HICH STREET 1. 5280 (south-west side) Nos 7 and 6 No 9 (Protea Cottage) TQ 5467 9/132 II GV 2. No 7 has an C18 front to an earlier timber-framed building. Two storeys. Ground floor painted brick, above plastered. Glazing bars missing. Modern shopfront to ground floor. Nos 8 and 9 are wholly C18 faced with weatherboarding. Casement windows. Tiled roof to the whole range. Six windows in all. Modern shopfronts.
