A Ring-ditch identified from aerial photographs (1-7) and excavated during a watching brief on the Grain-Shorne pipeline.

A ring ditch was recorded near the crest of the hill, it was 22m in diameter with the ditch up to 2.7m wide. Sherds from the Collared or Biconical Urn tradition were found in the primary fills, along with a Beaker sherd. No human remains were located but this could be due to truncation of the site. A sherd of Middle Bronze Age date was found in later fills of the ditch along with a fragment of a cylindrical loomweight of Middle to Late Bronze Age date. The ditch may therefore have been kept open for a considerable length of time. (8-9)
