CROCKENHILL
994/0/10023 CHURCH ROAD Tomb to Isabella Perceval in All Souls churchyard
GV II Table tomb. Circa 1860. Gothic style. Granite table tomb with larger moulded top slab with elaborate carved cross supported on six polished granite colonnettes. The tomb rests on two granite steps, the upper one inscribed "Here lieth Isabella youngest daughter and / co-heir of the late Honourable Howard Perceval and of Sarah / his wife. She died unmarried / at Crofton Hall near Orpington February 20 1860 aged 79.". It stands on a broad granite base with square section cast iron supports amd top rail set diagonally. Isabella Perceval was a generous benefactress to All Souls Church and parish and a half niece of Spencer Perceval, Prime Minister in 1812 who was assassinated by a madman in the lobby of the House of Commons.
A good quality Gothic style table tomb to a local benefactress which also groups with All Souls Church and lychgate.
