Description from record TR 02 SE 16 :
1449 Nos 28 & 30 High Street (North West Side) TR 0624 1/11 Grade II Two timber framed houses under one roof span, refronted in the C18. storeys and attic. No.28 is of painted brick and No.30 is stuccoed. Tiled roof with 2 hipped dormers and modillion eaves cornice. Modern shop windows below. No.28 has a doorcase with pilasters and open pediment over supported on brackets. No.30 has a modern Georgian style bow window. Nos.16 to 24 (even, 24A, Kings House, Nos.28 & 30 form a group). (1) No.28 and No.30 High Street were once one house. They have C18th brick fronts masking much older buildings. Both have doorways with low lintels and steps into the interior, and are timber-frambed behind their facades. The steep roofs have common rafters with collars only and no purlins. No.28 has main posts supporting a straight tie-beam, while no 30 appears to have been a cross-wing, being the only building on the lower level with signs of a forward jetty or overhang. (2)
