The following text is from the original listed building designation:

TR 13 NE NEWINGTON Frogholt
4/45 Old Kent Cottage 27.8.52 GV II
House. Possibly early C14. Timber framed with rendered infilling. Painted brick infilling to right end bay. Left gable end tile-hung on first floor. Thatched roof. Built at right-angles to road. Two-bay open hall with storeyed bay to each end. 1½ storeys on painted stone plinth. Left gable end jettied. Frame of relatively thin-scantling timber, with broadly- spaced studding. Front elevation of right end bay rebuilt with square panels. Broad low window cill across left hall bay. Straight brace to left side of right hall bay. Roof half-hipped to left, hipped to right Filleted C20 brick stack to right end of right hall bay. Irregular fenestration of one 3-light leaded casement to left hall bay. One 2-light leaded casement to first floor of left gable end. Boarded door under stock. Interior not inspected. Hall said never to have been floored. (E.W.
