In March 1878 on the western bank of Sharfleet Creek, a very large number of urns were found. On visiting the site, which had to be reached by boat, I found the mud bank covered with an enormous quantity of sherds. On probing I found part of a large quern, many animal bones and a portion of a Samian patera, stamped SATVRNNI.O. The finds and the general appearance of the spot suggest the site of a dwelling (1).
