Summary

Grade II listed building. Main construction periods 1760 to 1832 Folkestone battery - Dating to 1759, when it was designed to carry six 18-pounder guns, after 1798 it was modified to carry eight 24-pounders. It had no proper gorge defence, a feature it shares in common with the batteries at Ramsgate, Broadstairs and Margate.
