The following text is from the original listed building designation:
HIGH STREET 1. 1355 (South-East Side) No 9 (New Hall) TR 0420 NW 1/4 28.11.50. II GV
2. C18. 2 storeys stuccoed. Tiled roof and parapet. 3 windows, 2 of which are triple sashes. Glazing bars intact and cambered head linings. Doorcase in moulded architrave surround with pediment over supported on brackets and 6-panel door. Nos 7 to 17 (odd) form a group.

Building survey undertaken by Archaeology South East in 2009.
The building was built in the early C16 and consisted of a three-cell timber building on a brick sleeper course. In the late C17 a partition wall was added, and a brick chimney stack was added. In the late C18 / early C19 the northeast room was rebuil, and the front façade was rebuilt in brick. In the mid-late C19 a 2-storey brick range was added to the rear of the property. C20 modifications include the addition of a conservatory and a single-storey room at the end of the C19 range. C21 alterations include the removal of C20 additions and the constrcution of a new conservatory between the rear of the property and the C19 range. (1)
