The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1. 5281 MILITARY ROAD SANDGATE Nos 1 and 2 (Castle Hotel) TR 23 NW 10/28 II 2. Dated 1824. 2 storeys sandstone with red brick dressings and quoins. 3 sashes with glazing bars intact. Hipped tiled roof. Simple wooden doorcases.
