The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1. 5281 PROSPECT ROAD (South Side) SANDGATE Rodney Cottage. Bower Cottage TR 1955 SE 9/42 17.4.74. II GV 2. C18 pair altered in mid Cl9. 2 storeys. Ground floor stuccoed, lst floor weatherboarded Rodney Cottage has a modern tiled roof. Bower Cottage has a hipped slate roof with a weatherboarded square look out. 5 sashes in all on tile last floor with muot glazing bars intact set in wooden architraves. The ground floor of Rodney Cottage has 2 sashes with verticals only and a simple left side doorcase. Bower Cottage has 2 modern windows and a modern door with weather-hood. The rear elevation of Bower Cottage is weatherboarded and Rodney Cottage has 2 sashes with glazing bars intact and a lst floor verandah.
Rodney, Bower and West Lawn Cottages form a group.
