Full Description

A rare gold stater from New Chetney Island in the River Medway was on show at a Stanley Gibbons `Collectors Exhibition', Canterbury, July 1978. It is dated 1-10AD and was issued by Dubnovellaunus, Celtic King of the Cantii. The coin was found in the Medway together with another gold stater and a silver coin of Julius Caesar. It was issued for use in Kent and Essex and shows a prancing horse underneath which is a palm branch. (See Illustration Card). (1)
