Summary

A Roman jar, found in 1865 at Darnet Ness on the east bank of the lower Medway. Identified as a Roman wide-mouthed jar dating from the late 1st/early 2nd century. Now thought to be in store at Maidstone Museum. Nothing further was seen on a visit to the site during a 2004 coastal survey.

Full Description

DARNET NESS. On the east bank of the lower Medway a Roman wide-mouthed jar (late 1st/early 2nd cent.) was found in 1865.(a) (1) Not on exhibition, but probably in store at Maidstone Museum (2). Additional references (3,4). Site photographs (5-7). No visible remains in 2004. (8)
