TR 24 SW SWINGFIELD -
5/190 Wall approximately 20 metres north- north-west of St. John's Commandery
GV II
Wall. C16 or earlier. Flint. Approximately 30 metres long. Probably the "stone" wall forming one side of the (non-extant) three "houses of offices" and "a stable" next to "the great gate", recorded in 1529. (L.R.A. Grove and S.E. Rigold, "The View and State of the Commandery of Swingfield, 1529", in F. Hall (ed.), A Kentish Miscellany, 1979, pages 113 and 121).
