Original 17th century timber-framed house with an 18th century catslide extension to the rear and a grand 19th century double-fronted brick extension on the front.
Phase I (1650-1700): Mid 17th century small two-up-two-down timber-framed baffle entry house. 9.70m x 4.30m. An oven projected from the rear (SW) wall. The front (NE) and both side (SE and NW) walls were replaced in brick, sometime before the construction of phase II. During this rebuilding a number of windows and door opening were formed.
Phase II (1700-1750): The construction of a catslide extension to the rear (SW) of the house, forming a single-storey storeroom/pantry and bakehouse. 9.60m x 2.70m; constructed in brick. An oven projects from the NW wall, replacing the original oven. The stairs in the original building were removed, with new stairs built in the extension.
Phase III (1800-1850): A double-fronted brick extension was built against the former front of the original building. 10.60m x 4.35m; with the font and end elevations constructed in red brick in a Flemish bond. The original building was then relegated to providing storerooms and secondary bedrooms. (2)
