[TR 04282087 - sited from OS 1:2500 1968]. Timber framed building, Grade II, No.1 Coronation Square (north-east side). Includes No.1 New Street. Built in 1429 and is the Old Court Hall of Lydd. (For full description see list). (1) The Medieval Court Hall in Lydd, perhaps the oldest and smallest still surviving in Kent, was for centuries known as the "Common House". In 1743 the building was enlarged and made into a dwelling known as Gaol House. It was finally converted into shop premises earlier in the 20th century. In the centre of the building below the Court Hall was the site of the prison cell, now used as an office. (2)

This is a timber-framed building which was built in 1429 is the Old Court Hall of Lydd. It has been refaced and largely rebuilt in the C18 and since. The ground floor was formerly used as a shop and was converted to domestic use in 2013. 2 storeys. Ground floor faced with cement, above weatherboarded. Tiled roof in 2 sections. 4 windows. The north-east half of the building has casement windows, the south-west half sash windows with glazing bars intact. Inside upstairs is a plaster coat of arms. The original roof exists with a tie-beam and crown post.
