Monument record TQ 92 NW 5 - Knockhill beacon, Stone-cum-Ebony

Summary

A beacon at "Knokhill' is shown on William Lambarde's 'Carde' of c.1570, showing 52 beacons in Kent. They dropped out of use after 1640. Knock Farm lies at the foot of a prominent ridge which extends south-eastwards onto the Rother Levels and which would be a good location for a beacon site, but no further information has been found.
