TQ 95 NE NEWNHAM THE STREET (north side) 4/40 No. 44, The George Inn
GV II
Public house. C17 and late C19. Timber framed and pebble- dashed with plain tiled roof. Two parallel ranges. Two storeys and hipped roof with stacks to left and right. Three wooden casements on each floor, with half-glazed doors to centre left with flat hood, and to centre right. The property was mentioned as an inn in the will of John Hulse, d.1714, and before his ownership had been the brewhouse for the church ales. Severely altered 1884 by Shepherd Neame Brewery.
