Full Description

William Lambard's 'Carde' of c1570 shows a beacon at 'Alowsbridge', and a total of 52 beacons in Kent. The name Beaconsfield Fleet at TQ 982241, is probably derived from a nearby beacon for the Hundred of Aloesbridge. The Beacon system dropped out of use after 1640. (1)
'Beacon Field', is centred at TQ 97782420, at the west end of Beaconsfield Fleet (a). No further information. (2)
