William Lambard's 'Carde' of c1570 shows a beacon at 'Alowsbridge'. The name Beaconsfield Fleet at TQ 982241, is probably derived from a nearby beacon for the Hundred of Aloesbridge. 'Beacon Field', is centred at TQ 97782420, at the west end of Beaconsfield Fleet See also TQ 92 SE 3 Woolpack Inn formerly the Beacon-Keeper's House.
