Monument record TQ 94 NE 4 - Belgic cremation burials, Hothfield common

Summary

Two Belgic cremation burial groups, identified as La Tene III type cremation graves, were found at Hothfield Common near Ashford, in August and October 1942. One group consisted of two beakers and two urns, one containing a cremation. The other group consisted of two urns, one containing a cremation and a drinking cup. Much damage had been caused by the excavators and by root action. Some flint flakes and iron slag were also found on the site. It is not known where these finds are now located.
