Monument record TQ 94 NE 7 - Early medieval burial, Westwell downs
Summary
An early medieval burial was found in 1858 at Westwell one mile north of the aggregates terminal at Parsonage Wood, on the slope of a hill rising to Westwell Downs. Found at the site were two amber fluted glass cups, or squat jars, in a bronze bowl deposited in a grave cut. The squat jars were last known to be in the possesion of Maidstone Museum and the bowl was given to the Kent Archaeological Society.
