Full Description
[TQ 9184 4638] St. Mary's Church [NR] (site of) [NAT] (1) At Pevington there used to be an old church and a graveyard; agricultural work brings bones to the surface and subsidence has been caused by the collapse of old vaults. (2) Pevington is situated between Pluckley and Egerton churches, three quarters of a mile from the former, and was a parish until about 1583 when it was united to Pluckley. The church, which was dedicated to St. Mary, being in a ruinous state was converted into a stable (3). There are no visible remains of this church. The site is under pasture. (4)
