|TQ 9326 4922 Flints and E.I.A. pottery found in a pit belonging to Mr. Chapman. Information from Mrs. de Seyssel. Pottery in Maidstone Museum. (1) Chapman's sand-pit is centred TR 938 489. The owner (a) remembers Mrs. de Seysell excavating c. 1955 on the then perimeter at appx. TQ 9383 4902 but he could not give any details. He knew of no other work by her in the locality and it is doubtful if the finds were made in the pit noted by Maidstone Museum. This, centred TQ 9322 4920, is owned by Mr. Broome (b) and has been derelict for some 20 years: nothing of archaeological interest was found in it when it was worked. No further information was obtained at Maidstone Museum and the pottery was not available for inspection, apparently mislaid. Mrs. de Seysell is not a member of the K.A.S. nor resident in Kent; she was not contacted. (2)
