A late Me. 'Thames Pick' was found at Kingsland Farm in 1966 (at TQ 906463) and was brought to the Maidstone Museum for identification. The implement remains in the possession of the finder. (1) Sited on Maidstone Museum 6" at TQ 90584622. Found by Master Andrew Kilby, The Homestead, Egerton. (2) Master Andrew Kilby indicated the findspot on the OS 25" at TQ 90604619, stating that the pick was found nearer to the corner of the field than the positon given on the Museum 6". The pick was found on the surface after the field had been deep ploughed for the first time for many years, having been previously under fruit trees (3).
