Summary

A polished Neolithic adze was found in 1968 near Stonebridge Green. At the time the artefact was identified as made from greenstone, but not attributable to one of the known groups. The implement has remained in the possession of its finder.

Full Description

TQ 916482. A Ne polished adze was found in 1968 by Mr V J Newbury of Upper Street, Hollingbourne. Examined by F.S. Wallis and E.D. Evans who identified the stone as greenstone, but not attributable to one ofthe known groups. (1) Found by Mr Newbury on his market garden at TQ 91604843. Sectioned Greenstone County No Kent 41. Retained by finder: Sited on oral evidence from D Kelly. (a) (2)
