Full Description
TQ 919465, Pivington listed as a deserted medieval village. (1) [The name currently survives in the modern names of Pivington Mill (NAT) and Pilvington Farm (NAT).] (2) In Caleheve (Calehill) hundred Pivington was held by Ralph of Coubepine. (3) Maurice Beresford and John G. Hurst eds. Deserted Medieval Villages, 1971, list 69 places for Kent in their County Gazetters of Deserted Medieval Villages. In most cases there is nothing to prove that thereever was a village at the site in question. A deserted church site orisolated church certainly does not prove the existence of a deserted village.
