A heritage statement produced in 2020 for 50 Ospringe Street dated to the structure to 1790-1800 AD. The building was originally built as officers' accomodation associated with the construction of a barracks in 1790 to the north west of the village. No.s 54, 56, 58, and 60 Ospringe Street were built in timber and No.s 50 and 52 were built slightly later in brick as semi-detached dwellings. The barracks were demolished around 1830 and the houses then transferred to residential civilian use.
The external structure of No. 50 is brick with internal timber partitions, floors, and roof. (2)
The heritage statement notes some errors in the above listing descriptions above; these are as follows:
"- Nos 50 and 52 are 3 storeys high with an attic storey (not 2 and with no attic).
- Only the front walls of Nos 50 and 52 are of painted brick.
- No. 50 also has a 4 flush-panelled door (not only No. 52).
- Nos 54-60 are also 3 storeys high with an attic storey (not 2 storeys).
- Nos 54-60 are all timber framed and not of yellow brick; one is fronted in mathematical tiles, the other three are rendered and the rear walls of all 4 are rendered." (from the original report, 2).
