Findspot record TQ 94 SE 9 - Late Bronze Age urn, Potters Corner

Summary

A late Bronze Age urn was found in 1935 near Potters Corner. This decorated vessel was found in a sandpit but no associated finds were located at the time nor were any bones found with the urn. No subsequent discoveries of similar type have been made at the site although there is a prehistoric flint working site in the vicinity. The urn is now held at maidstone museum.

Full Description

[TQ 9982 4422] A Late Bronze age urn found in 1935, now in the Maidstone Museum (1).

On exhibition in Maidstone Museum is food vessel with decoration along the cordon found inverted in a sandpit at Potters Corner, in Dec. 1935; there was no trace of bones. It was found in a sandpit . The sandpit is situated on the crest of a prominent ridge; it is long disused and there is no local knowledge of any subsequent finds (2).
