Following the fire Canterbury Archaeological Trust carried out a survey of the surviving fabric of the building, prior to demolition. The building had been of four bays at one time, but had been much altered before the fire. It originally had end jettied in-line wings to the east and west. An open-hall with an undershot cross passage appears to have been located in the centre of the property. The central chimney and floor were probably inserted into the building in the late 16th or early 17th century. In the 18th century the building was divided into cottages and small out shots added. 18th century graffiti was found in plaster behind panelling. (2)
