The following text is from the original listed building designation:
TR 05 NW SHELDWICH NEW HOUSE
1/101 Barn about 30 metres north-west of Newhouse Farmhouse
GV II
Barn. C16. Timber framed on flint and red brick and weatherboarded with corrugated iron roof. Hipped roof with raking mid-strey to left and 5 boarded doors across front. Interior: 4 bays with aisles and terminal outshots. Passing shores (now truncated) to arcade posts. Queen strut roof with wind bracing and braced intermediate trusses in each bay. A later single storeyed and weatherboarded range to left links this barn with another to left (item 102). (See Traditional Kent Buildings no.1).
