TQ 99904005. The broken remains of a cremation burial deposit found near outbuildings of Westhawk Farm by J Reeves in 1970. Found at a depth of between 2 ft and 2 ft 6 ins were: The base and lower sides of a course ware pot and pieces of a similar but smaller pot. The broken but complete remains of a small green glass vessel of the middle to lat 1st century. Hard, red sandy cooking pot sherds of 13th-14th century date. Fragments of cremated bone from an adult, the date of deposition being uncertain. The most interesting feature of the find is its proximity to the find is its proximity to the crossing of Margary's Routes Four(130?) and Five (131?) and the first evidence of RB influence in the area. Geophysical surveying and trial trenching in advance of housing development revealed evidence of an extensive Romano-British road side settlement at the crossing of the two Roman roads(3-6). (TR 04 SW 117)
