Description from record TQ 96 SE 106:
Brief Historical Survey of Barn at Buckland Farm, Teynham. Probably C16th in comparison with style structures of other buildings. Close studding used in Kent from late C15th until the mid C17th. Crown post roof with collar purlin - predominated in the medieval period, but was superseded in the mid-C16th. Wind eyes with sliding shutters - in widespread use throughout C16th. First floor beams and joists employ chamfers without stops with the exception of stepped stops in the joists as they over sail the wall plates. Consistent with C16th date. C18th converted into farm building. Quality of carpentry is inferior and timber sections 'random'. Ground floor rebuilt at this time up to first floor plate. Brick and bond of the present plinth walling below the sole plate are post 1700 type.
