Full Description
[TQ 9036 5878] Roman burial urn found, now kept in church [Found within graveyard]. (1) A 2nd century Roman cinerary urn and glass phial were found in 1947 when a grave was dug in Milsted churchyard; a silver or lead medallion with Chi-Ro. on one side and the Madonna and child on the other, found at the same time, could not be dated with any certainty by the British Museum, to whom the group was submitted. The finds are the property of Milsted Parish Council and in the care of the churchwarden, Mrs Mackendlish, The Old Rectory, Milsted, who pointed out the find spot - TQ 9037 5880. (2)
