Full Description
TQ 52645772. Bronze palstave found in late 1974 at the Bradbourne Gravel Pit, Sevenoaks by Mr Chown of Redland Gravel Ltd. whilst operating the washing and processing plant. The axe is 16.3 cms in length, however, the butt seems to be broken away. The form is long and slender with a median rib on the blade and a slightly flared cutting edge. The stop, which is slightly distorted, is square ended. This type of axe is usually dated towards the end of the Middle Bronze Age. (See also TQ 55 NW 51). (1)
